HELP US CHANGE THE LIVES OF CHILDREN
AT HOME AND ABROAD!

MT CARMEL LEARNING CENTRE

The W.E.B. DuBois CDC  has strived through its community and camp programs to offer supportive and nurturing opportunities to young people

that would  raise their cultural awareness and strengthen and enhance their educational, social and life skills. In fall, 2008, the WEB DuBois CDC will sponsor a trip to Kenya, Africa for its consumer and providers.    This trip will  increase the cultural awareness of our consumers and allow them the opportunity to see how children in other parts of the world confront their challenges.

In addition to subsidizing travel costs for our consumers travel and Kenya experience, a portion of the funds will go to support the school that we will be visiting during our trip, Mt. Carmel  Learning Centre in Kenya — The dedicated purpose of the Mt Carmel Learning Centre is to ensure that needy  children roaming the dirt  paths  of the slums have a place to get an education.  In Nairobi, as in the US, education is key to helping children break the cycle of poverty; and a  critical component to good jobs in the future.  Teacher salaries at Mt. Carmel are $40.00 a month.  Many families cannot pay the $5.00 a month for school fees, but the dedicated faculty of Mt. Carmel does not turn these children away.   A significant number of the children’s only meal will be the one they  get at school.  One dollar   can pay for a child’s full day meal.    Your donation will help meet the needs of children from both nations.
