Overview:
The Micro Enterprise & Innovation Centre is designed to be a powerful Economic
Development Centre. The MIC offers various levels of entrepreneurial training,
support,
and developmental programs to anyone interested in starting a home-based
business
venture.
The MIC’s vision of the future is one where Technology & Innovation is
incorporated to
maximize small business competitiveness and efficiency. Our prime directive is
to assist
entrepreneurs in navigating the challenges that Micro Enterprises face during
their
developmental phases of Infancy, Adolescence, and Maturity.
The business incubator will pursue and accomplish these additional directives in
the first
year of operations:
Join the National Business Incubator Association
Launch a Pilot Project for Micro Enterprise & Innovation Centre
Implement Six Sigma Methodology as a measurement and performance tool
Incorporate Best Practices as defined by NBIA
Recruit and nurture the development of home-based entrepreneurs
Offer virtual administrative support services
Promote Technology & Innovation
Launch a Information Technology company under the umbrella of Social Entrepreneurship
Launch an IT-based apprenticeship program and create Entry-Level IT employment opportunities
Re-defining the links between universities, research institutions, and the local economy
According to the Small Business Administration (SBA), a large percentage of
start-up
companies are unsuccessful within the first 5 years of their inception and
operations. In
marked contrast, incubated start-up companies have a much higher success rate
(90%)
than companies launched without incubation assistance. The Micro Enterprise &
Innovation Centre’s incubation process generally lasts for a maximum of 7 years,
affording the business an opportunity to build a client-base and establish
market
sustainability.
In preparation for starting-up a Micro Enterprise or Home-Based Business,
aspirants are
encouraged to consider their life values, professional experiences, and
natural talents in
light of commercial trends in the global economy. The MIC will offer seminars
and
workshops that prepare participants to make a paradigm shift to “Entrepreneurship".
Inspiring and nurturing the entrepreneurial spirit and
bridging the Digital-Divide.
An idea whose time has come!
